Tom Krobatsch is an HPC systems administrator with the High-Performance Computing Operations group at the National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS). His primary responsibilities include the administration of the center’s compute clusters and its multi-petabyte Lustre storage system. He also leads the institute’s Open OnDemand (OOD) portal, focusing on custom application development and the integration of core services. He has authored several OOD applications, including specialized front-ends for genomics services and a secure proxy for the KEGG website. Additionally, Tom manages the Open XDMoD cluster for resource analytics.

Beyond his role at NICS, Tom is an active leader in the national and global OOD communities. He serves as a member of the Open OnDemand Technical Committee and is a co-chair for the Global Open OnDemand (GOOD) 2025 proceedings committee. Prior to NICS, he worked in the construction industry as an engineer and IT administrator. Tom holds B.S. degrees in both Physics and Computer Science from the University of Tennessee, where his undergraduate research with the Relativistic Heavy Ion group (PHENIX and STAR) contributed to a publication by the Brookhaven National Laboratory.
